അദ്ധ്യാപകനായ സഖേയസിന്റെ അടുത്തു്
പിതാവായ യോസേഫിനോടു് യേശു ഇതൊക്കെ പറയുന്നതു് കേട്ടുകൊണ്ടു് അടുത്തുനിന്നിരുന്ന ഒരദ്ധ്യാപകൻ സഖേയസ്‌ ഒരു കൊച്ചുകുട്ടി ഈവിധമൊക്കെ സംസാരിക്കുന്നതു് കേട്ടു് അത്ഭുതപ്പെട്ടു. ഏതാനും ദിവസങ്ങൾക്കു് ശേഷം അവൻ യോസേഫിനെ സമീപിച്ചു് പറഞ്ഞു: “നിന്റെ മകൻ സമർത്ഥനാണു്; അവനു് ബുദ്ധിയുണ്ടു്. അവൻ അക്ഷരം പഠിക്കേണ്ടതിനായി അവനെ നീ എന്നെ ഏൽപിക്കൂ. ഞാൻ അവനെ അക്ഷരങ്ങളും എല്ലാ ശാസ്ത്രങ്ങളും മാത്രമല്ല, എങ്ങനെയാണു് പിതാവിന്റേയും പിതാമഹന്റേയുമൊക്കെ അടുത്തു് പെരുമാറേണ്ടതെന്നും, എങ്ങനെയാണു് സമപ്രായക്കാരെ സ്നേഹപൂർവ്വം സമീപിക്കേണ്ടതെന്നുമെല്ലാം പഠിപ്പിക്കാം.”
അങ്ങനെ അവൻ യേശുവിനു് A മുതൽ O വരെയുള്ള (ഗ്രീക്ക്‌ അക്ഷരമാലയിലെ ആദ്യത്തേയും അവസാനത്തേയും അക്ഷരങ്ങളായ Alpha, Omega) അക്ഷരങ്ങൾ കൃത്യമായി ചൊല്ലിക്കൊടുത്തു. പക്ഷേ, അതു് കേട്ട യേശു സഖേയസിനെ നോക്കി പറഞ്ഞു: “കപടനാട്യക്കാരാ, ‘A‘ എന്ന അക്ഷരത്തെ അതിന്റെ സത്തയിൽ മനസ്സിലാക്കാൻ പോലും കഴിയാത്ത നീ എങ്ങനെയാണു് മറ്റുള്ളവരെ ‘B‘ എന്ന അക്ഷരം പഠിപ്പിക്കുന്നതു്? നിനക്കറിയാമെങ്കിൽ ആദ്യം നീ A എന്തെന്നു് പഠിപ്പിക്കൂ! B-യെപ്പറ്റി നീ പഠിപ്പിക്കുന്നതു് അതുകഴിഞ്ഞു് ഞങ്ങൾ വിശ്വസിക്കാം. തുടർന്നു് അവൻ ആ അദ്ധ്യാപകനോടു് A എന്ന അക്ഷരത്തെപ്പറ്റി ചോദിക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങി. പക്ഷേ, അവന്റെ ചോദ്യങ്ങൾക്കു് മറുപടി പറയാൻ സഖേയസിനു് കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. പല ആളുകളും കേട്ടുകൊണ്ടു് നിൽക്കെ അവൻ സഖേയസിനോടു് പറഞ്ഞു: “അദ്ധ്യാപകനേ, ആദ്യാക്ഷരത്തിന്റെ നിർമ്മിതി എങ്ങനെയെന്നു് ശ്രദ്ധിക്കൂ! അതിൽ പരസ്പരം കൂട്ടിമുട്ടുന്ന രണ്ടു് നേർരേഖകളും അവയെത്തമ്മിൽ ബന്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ഒരു മദ്ധ്യരേഖയുമുണ്ടെന്നും, അങ്ങനെ പരസ്പരം കൂട്ടിമുട്ടുന്ന രണ്ടു് രേഖകളുടെ മുനമ്പു് അതിന്റെ നേതൃത്വം ഏറ്റെടുക്കുന്നു എന്നും, അതോടൊപ്പംതന്നെ ഒരു തല രൂപപ്പെടുന്നു എന്നും, അതിന്റെ ആരംഭത്തിനും അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിനും ഒരേ രീതിയിലുള്ള മൂന്നു് ചിഹ്നങ്ങൾ നിദാനമാവുന്നു എന്നും മനസ്സിലാക്കൂ. ‘A‘ എന്ന അക്ഷരത്തിലെ മൂന്നു് രേഖകളുടെ സാരാംശം ഇതാ നിനക്കു് ലഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.” ആദ്യാക്ഷരത്തെപ്പറ്റി ഇത്ര വിശദമായതും, ആഴമേറിയതും, ദൃഷ്ടാന്തപരമായ അർത്ഥസമ്പൂർണ്ണത ഉൾക്കൊള്ളുന്നതുമായ യേശുവിന്റെ ഈ വിവരണം കേട്ട സഖേയസ്‌ എന്തു് മറുപടി പറയണമെന്നറിയാതെ നിസ്സഹായനായി “ഇടം വലം” ചുറ്റിയശേഷം ചുറ്റും കൂടി നിന്നവരോടു് പറഞ്ഞു: “ഹാ കഷ്ടം! ഇതെന്നെ തകർത്തുകളഞ്ഞു. ഇവനെ പഠിപ്പിക്കാനായി വിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുവന്നു് എനിക്കു് സ്വയം അപമാനം വരുത്തിവച്ച നിർഭാഗ്യവാനാണു് ഞാൻ! സഹോദരാ, യോസേഫെ, ഇവനെ നീ ദയവുചെയ്തു് തിരിച്ചു് കൊണ്ടുപോകൂ. ഇവന്റെ നോട്ടത്തെ നേരിടാൻ എനിക്കു് കഴിവില്ല. ഇവൻ പറയുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങൾ ഒരുവട്ടം പോലും താങ്ങാൻ ഇനി എനിക്കാവില്ല. ഈ ബാലൻ ഭൂമിയിൽ നിന്നുള്ളവനല്ല. ഇവൻ തീയെ പോലും പിടിച്ചുകെട്ടാൻ കഴിവുള്ളവനാണു്. അന്തിമമായി പറഞ്ഞാൽ, ലോകസൃഷ്ടിക്കും മുൻപേ ജനിപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടവനാണിവൻ. ഏതു് ഗർഭപാത്രമാണു് ഇവനെ വഹിച്ചതെന്നും, ഏതു് അമ്മയുടെ മടിയിലാണു് ഇവനു് ആഹാരം നൽകപ്പെട്ടതെന്നും എനിക്കറിയില്ല. സുഹൃത്തേ, എനിക്കിതൊരു ഭാരമായിരിക്കുന്നു, ഇവന്റെ ബുദ്ധിയെ പിൻതുടരാൻ എനിക്കു് കഴിവില്ല. അങ്ങേയറ്റം നിർഭാഗ്യവാനായ ഞാൻ എന്നെത്തന്നെ ചതിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. ഒരു വിദ്യാർത്ഥിയെ ലഭിക്കാൻ ഞാൻ ശ്രമിച്ചു; പക്ഷേ, എനിക്കു് ലഭിച്ചതു് ഒരു അദ്ധ്യാപകനെയാണെന്നു് അവനെന്നെ കാണിച്ചുതന്നു. വൃദ്ധനായ എനിക്കു് ഒരു കുട്ടിയുടെ മുന്നിൽ തോറ്റുകൊടുക്കേണ്ടിവന്നു എന്നു് ഞാൻ സമ്മതിക്കുന്നു. ഈ ബാലനെ പ്രതി എല്ലാ വിലയും നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടവനായ എനിക്കു് മരിക്കുക എന്നൊരു ജോലി മാത്രമേ ഇനി ബാക്കിയുള്ളു. എന്നെ ഒരു കൊച്ചുകുട്ടി തോൽപിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു എന്നു് എല്ലാ ആളുകളും പറയുമ്പോൾ അതിനെതിരായി എനിക്കെന്താണു് പറയാനുള്ളതു്? ആദ്യാക്ഷരത്തിന്റെ രേഖകളെപ്പറ്റി അവൻ വിശദീകരിച്ചതിനെ സംബന്ധിച്ചു് ഞാൻ എന്തു് പറഞ്ഞാലാണു് ആളുകൾ എന്റെ പരാജയം ഒരുവിധമെങ്കിലും മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നതു്? അവൻ പറഞ്ഞതു് മനസ്സിലാക്കാൻ എനിക്കുതന്നെ കഴിയുന്നില്ല. കാരണം, അതിന്റെ ആരംഭമോ അവസാനമോ എനിക്കു് പിടികിട്ടുന്നില്ല. അതുകൊണ്ടു് സഹോദരനായ യോസേഫേ, നീ അവനെ നിന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു് തിരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുപോകുക. നിന്റെ മകൻ മഹത്വമേറിയ എന്തോ ആണു്, ഒരു ദൈവമോ, മാലാഖയോ, എന്താണെന്നു് പറയാൻ പോലും എനിക്കറിയില്ലാത്ത മറ്റെന്തോ ആണു്.” ഇത്രയും കേട്ട യൂദന്മാർ സഖേയസിനെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കാനായി ഓരോന്നു് പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നപ്പോൾ യേശു പൊട്ടിച്ചിരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു് പറഞ്ഞു: “ഇപ്പോൾ ഫലം നൽകാത്തവ ഫലം വഹിക്കും, അന്ധമായ ഹൃദയമുള്ളവർ കാണും. ഞാൻ മുകളിൽ നിന്നും താഴെ വന്നതു്, നിങ്ങളെപ്രതി എന്നെ അയച്ചവൻ എന്നെ ചുമതലപ്പെടുത്തിയതുപോലെ, ശാപം അർഹിക്കുന്നവരെ ശപിക്കാനും അല്ലാത്തവരെ മുകളിലേക്കു് വിളിക്കാനുമാണു്.” അവൻ അതു് പറഞ്ഞുകഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോഴേക്കും അവന്റെ ശാപമേറ്റവരെല്ലാം ആ നിമിഷംതന്നെ ആരോഗ്യവാന്മാരായിത്തീർന്നു. അതിനുശേഷം ആരും അവനെ ദ്വേഷ്യം പിടിപ്പിക്കാതിരിക്കാൻ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചു. കാരണം, അവനെങ്ങാനും ദ്വേഷ്യം കേറി ശപിച്ചുപോയാൽ ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടവർ അംഗഹീനരായി മാറിയേക്കാമെന്നവർ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു.
പുരപ്പുറത്തുനിന്നുള്ള വീഴ്ച
ഏതാനും ദിവസങ്ങൾക്കുശേഷം യേശു ഒരു കെട്ടിടത്തിനു് മുകളിലെ ബാൽക്കണിയിൽ മറ്റു് കുട്ടികളോടൊപ്പം കളിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നപ്പോൾ അതിലൊരുവൻ താഴെ വീണു് മരിച്ചു. ഇതുകണ്ട മറ്റു് കുട്ടികളെല്ലാം ഓടിയൊളിച്ചു. യേശു മാത്രം ബാക്കിയായി. താമസിയാതെ മരിച്ചവന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കൾ വന്നു. മകനെ യേശു ഉന്തിവീഴിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു എന്ന നിഗമനത്തിൽ മകന്റെ മരണത്തിന്റെ കുറ്റം അവർ യേശുവിൽ ചുമത്തി. യേശു പറഞ്ഞു: “ഞാൻ അവനെ തീർച്ചയായിട്ടും ഉന്തി താഴെയിട്ടില്ല.” പക്ഷേ, ആ മാതാപിതാക്കൾ അതു് വിശ്വസിക്കാതെ അവനെ കയ്യേറ്റം ചെയ്യാൻ ശ്രമിച്ചു. അപ്പോൾ യേശു കെട്ടിടത്തിനു് മുകളിൽ നിന്നും താഴേക്കു് ചാടി മരിച്ചവന്റെ സമീപം നിലയുറപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു് പറഞ്ഞു: “സീനോൻ, (അങ്ങനെയായിരുന്നു മരിച്ചവന്റെ പേരു്) നീ എഴുന്നേൽക്കൂ! എന്നിട്ടു് പറയൂ; ഞാനാണോ നിന്നെ ഉന്തി താഴെയിട്ടതു്?” ഉടനെ അവൻ ചാടിയെഴുന്നേറ്റു് പറഞ്ഞു: “അല്ല പ്രഭോ, നീയെന്നെ ഉന്തി താഴെയിട്ടില്ല. പകരം, നീയെന്നെ ഉയിർപ്പിക്കുകയാണു് ചെയ്തതു്.” മരിച്ചവനായിരുന്നവന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കൾ അതുകണ്ടപ്പോൾ ഞെട്ടിവിറക്കുകയും സംഭവിച്ച ഈ അടയാളത്തിന്റെ പേരിൽ ദൈവത്തെ പുകഴ്ത്തുകയും യേശുവിനു് സ്തുതി പാടുകയും ചെയ്തു.
യുവാവായ വിറകുകീറൽകാരൻ
വീണ്ടും കുറച്ചുദിവസങ്ങൾക്കുശേഷം ചെറുപ്പക്കാരനായ ഒരുവൻ വിറകു് കീറിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നപ്പോൾ കോടാലി വീണു് അവന്റെ പാദം മുറിഞ്ഞുപോയി. അവൻ രക്തം വാർന്നു് മരണത്തിന്റെ വക്കത്തെത്തി. ആളുകൾ ഓടിക്കൂടുന്നതിന്റെ ബഹളം കേട്ടു് യേശുബാലനും സ്ഥലത്തെത്തി. ആളുകളുടെയിടയിലൂടെ തിക്കിത്തിരക്കി അവൻ ആസന്നമരണനായവന്റെ അടുത്തെത്തി. ചെന്നപാടെ അവൻ അവൻ മുറിഞ്ഞുപോയ പാദത്തിൽ തൊട്ടു. യുവാവിന്റെ പാദം നൊടിയിടയിൽ വീണ്ടും പഴയപോലെ ആയിത്തീർന്നു! യേശു അവനോടു് പറഞ്ഞു: “യുവാവേ, എഴുന്നേറ്റു് വീണ്ടും വിറകു് കീറൽ തുടർന്നോളൂ! എന്നെ ഓർമ്മിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യൂ!” സംഭവിച്ചതെല്ലാം കണ്ടവരായ ജനക്കൂട്ടം യേശുവിനെ സ്തുതിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു് പറഞ്ഞു: “തീർച്ചയായിട്ടും ഈ പയ്യന്റെയുള്ളിൽ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവു് വസിക്കുന്നുണ്ടു്.”
പൊട്ടിയ മൺകുടം
യേശുവിനു് ആറു് വയസ്സുണ്ടായിരുന്നപ്പോൾ കിണറ്റിൽ നിന്നും വെള്ളം കോരിക്കൊണ്ടുവരുവാനായി അവന്റെ അമ്മ മറിയം ഒരു മൺകുടവും കൊടുത്തു് അവനെ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു. ആളുകളുടെ തിരക്കിനിടയിൽ മറ്റാരോ ആയി കൂട്ടിയിടിച്ചതിന്റെ ഫലമായി കുടം പൊട്ടിത്തകർന്നുപോയി. യേശു ഉടനെ അവൻ പുതച്ചിരുന്ന വസ്ത്രം ഊരിയെടുത്തു് അതിൽ വെള്ളം നിറച്ചു് അമ്മയുടെ അടുത്തെത്തിച്ചു. ഈ അടയാളം കണ്ട അവന്റെ അമ്മ അവനെ ചുംബിക്കുകയും അവൻ ചെയ്ത ഈ കാര്യം രഹസ്യമായി സൂക്ഷിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
അത്ഭുതകരമായ വിളവു്
മറ്റൊരിക്കൽ, വിളവിറക്കലിന്റെ സമയത്തു് പിതാവായ യോസേഫ്‌ ഗോതമ്പു് വിതയ്ക്കാനായി വയലിലേക്കു് പോയ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ യേശുവും പോയി. യോസേഫ്‌ വിത്തു് വിതച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നതിനിടയിൽ യേശുവും വിത്തു് വിതച്ചു. കൂടുതലൊന്നുമില്ല, ഒരേയൊരു ഗോതമ്പുമണി! (നഞ്ചെന്തിനു് നാനാഴി!) പിന്നീടു് വിളവെടുപ്പു് സമയത്തു് മെതിപ്പുരയിൽ ശേഖരിക്കപ്പെട്ട ധാന്യത്തിന്റെ അളവു് നൂറു് ‘Malter’ (ഏകദേശം 70000 ലിറ്റർ)! അതുമുഴുവൻ സൂക്ഷിക്കാൻ വീട്ടിൽ സ്ഥലമില്ല. ഇനി, വിറ്റു് പണമാക്കാനാണെങ്കിൽ യോസേഫ്‌ ഇന്നത്തെ അധി-‘രൂപ താ’ വിഭാഗത്തിൽ പെട്ടവനായിരുന്നുമില്ല. അതുകൊണ്ടു് അവൻ ഗ്രാമത്തിലുള്ള മുഴുവൻ പാവങ്ങളേയും മെതിപ്പുരയിൽ വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തി എല്ലാവർക്കും ധാന്യം ദാനം ചെയ്തു! ബാക്കിവന്ന ഗോതമ്പു് സ്വന്ത ആവശ്യത്തിനായി യോസേഫ്‌ വീട്ടിലെത്തിച്ചു. ഈ അത്ഭുതം ചെയ്തപ്പോൾ യേശുവിനു് എട്ടു് വയസ്സായിരുന്നു.
യോസേഫിന്റെ വർക്ക്ഷോപ്പിൽ
യേശുവിന്റെ ‘വളർത്തു’പിതാവായിരുന്ന യോസേഫ്‌ തൊഴിലുകൊണ്ടു് ആശാരിയായിരുന്നു. ആ സമയത്തു് അവൻ നേഞ്ചലും നുകവും മാത്രമേ ഉണ്ടാക്കിക്കൊടുത്തിരുന്നുള്ളു. അങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ ഒരു ധനികൻ അവന്റെയടുത്തു് ഒരു കട്ടിലിനു് ഓർഡർ നൽകി. പക്ഷേ, അതിന്റെ പണി തീർത്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നതിനിടയിൽ ഒരു പ്രശ്നം! കട്ടിലിൽ കുറുകെ പാരലൽ ആയി വെക്കേണ്ട രണ്ടു് പലകകളിൽ ഒന്നിനു് നീളംകുറവു്. എന്തുചെയ്യണമെന്നു് യോസേഫിനും അവന്റെ സഹായിക്കും യാതൊരു പിടിയും കിട്ടിയില്ല. അപ്പോൾ യേശുക്കുട്ടി പറഞ്ഞു: “രണ്ടു് പലകകളും മദ്ധ്യബിന്ദുവിൽ നിന്നും രണ്ടുവശത്തേക്കും തുല്യമായ നീളം വരുന്ന വിധത്തിൽ ചേർത്തു് തറയിൽ വയ്ക്കുക.” യേശു പറഞ്ഞപോലെതന്നെ യോസേഫ്‌ ചെയ്തു. യേശു എതിർവശത്തുനിന്നുകൊണ്ടു് നീളം കുറഞ്ഞ പലകയെ പിടിച്ചു് വലിച്ചുനീട്ടി മറ്റേതിനോടു് തുല്യമാക്കി! അതുകണ്ട യോസേഫ്‌ അത്ഭുതപരതന്ത്രനായി യേശുവിനെ കെട്ടിപ്പിടിച്ചു് ഉമ്മവച്ചുകൊണ്ടു് പറഞ്ഞു: “ഇതുപോലൊരു മകനെ എനിക്കു് ദൈവം സമ്മാനിച്ചതിൽ ഞാനെന്നെ അതീവഭാഗ്യവാനായി കണക്കാക്കണം.”
(ഈ കെട്ടുകഥകൾ പ്രചരിച്ചിരുന്ന നാടുകളിൽ അക്കാലത്തു് ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നവരുമായി ബൗദ്ധികവും മാനസികവുമായി ഒപ്പത്തിനൊപ്പം നിൽക്കാൻ കഴിയുന്ന വിശ്വാസികൾ മലയാളം വായിക്കുന്നവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ ഇന്നും വിരളമല്ലെന്നതിനാൽ, ഇതു് യേശു സാക്ഷാൽ ദൈവപുത്രനാണെന്നതിന്റെ തെളിവായി ഈ കഥകളെ അവർ കണ്ടുകൂടെന്നില്ല. അതിനാൽ, വെളുക്കാൻ തേയ്ക്കുന്നതു് പാണ്ടായി മാറുമോ എന്നൊരു സംശയവും ഇല്ലാതില്ല.)

യേശു തടി വലിച്ച് നീട്ടിയത് ഒരു അത്ഭുതമേ അല്ലല്ലോ..
നമ്മള്‍ ഇന്നാളൊരികല്‍ കണ്ടില്ലേ ഒരു ചേട്ടന്‍ (ചാത്തന്‍) കൈ വലിച്ച് നീട്ടി കൊടുത്തത്..

ഉപദേശി കുറിയ കൈ വലിച്ചുനീട്ടുന്ന അത്ഭുതം കണ്ടു് മാമൂദീസാ മുങ്ങി മതം മാറിയവരിൽ പകുതിയും എഞ്ചിനീയറിംഗിലും മെഡിസിനിലും ശാസ്ത്രത്തിലും ഒക്കെ ഉന്നതബിരുദങ്ങൾ ഉള്ളവരാണത്രേ!

ഭയപ്പെടുത്തി അനുസരിപ്പിക്കുക എന്നത് പണ്ടത്തെ ഒരു സങ്കല്‍പ്പമായിരുന്നെന്ന് തോന്നുന്നു. ഏതു ദൈവങ്ങളെ എടുത്താലും ഇങ്ങനൊക്കെ തന്നെ.
ഇന്നായിരുന്നേല്‍ മൊബൈല്‍ വാങ്ങിക്കൊടുക്കുന്നതും കുറഞ്ഞ മെമ്മറിയില്‍ കൂടുതല്‍ ഇമേജസ് കയറ്റിക്കൊടുക്കുന്നതുമൊക്കെയായ ദൈവന്നള്‍ വന്നേനെ.

ഒരു മെഴുകുതിരി കത്തിച്ചാൽ, ഇത്തിരി ചില്ലറ നേർച്ചയിട്ടാൽ മാറ്റാവുന്നതാണു് മനുഷ്യവിധിയെങ്കിൽ, ആ വിധിയുടെ ചുമതലക്കാരനായ ദൈവം എത്രമാത്രം മന്ദബുദ്ധിയായിരിക്കണം? അത്തരം പ്രവർത്തികൾ വഴി എന്തെങ്കിലും നേടാൻ മനുഷ്യനു് കഴിയുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ അതു് സ്വന്തം ആത്മവിശ്വാസം വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കലാണു്. ആത്മവിശ്വാസം വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കാൻ നുണക്കഥകളെ ആശ്രയിക്കേണ്ടിവരുന്ന ദയനീയനരായ മനുഷ്യർ! പക്ഷേ, അതു് നുണക്കഥകളാണെന്നു് അവർക്കറിയില്ലല്ലോ. അറിയാതിരിക്കാനാണു് അവർ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നതും! ചൂഷകരും ചൂഷിതരും ഒരുപോലെ സന്തുഷ്ടർ!
അവനവനിൽത്തന്നെ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള ചിലവുകുറഞ്ഞ ഒരു കുറുക്കുവഴി മാത്രമാണു് മതവും ദൈവവിശ്വാസവും. മതഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങൾ വയിച്ചവരോ മതങ്ങളുടെ ഡോഗ്മ മനസ്സിലാക്കിയവരോ ഒന്നുമല്ല മതങ്ങളുടെ പിന്നാലെ നടക്കുന്ന ഭാഗ്യാന്വേഷികൾ.

I think those theories are outdated.All cultures have religions and gods,and to think that believers are just foolish,or are easily led by selfish leaders of the tribe is simply wrong.It really doesn't explain any thing.(Btw I am an atheist and am proud of it:-))Scientists have much better theories that have very good at explaining different aspects of religion. Some theories I have read and find interesting:
-Richard Dawkins (The God Delusion) , Daniel C. Dennett (Breaking the Spell),Susan Blackmore(The meme machine)

Like the white Queen in Lewis Carroll's Through the looking glass,our brain just can't stop believing in impossible things.Most of us are firmly convinced of many things that aren't so: gods, unlikely events, strange medical practices etc.people simply cannot look at the world and cannot form,an opinion,the brain being especially designed to make conclusions from incomplete data "in real time'. so that accuracy comes a poor second. most of the religious concepts around the world are minimally counter intuitive, and minimally counter-intuitive concepts are more memorable than other types of concepts.
So the conclusion is people believing in god or religion are not arrogant fools.It is 'normal' or that is the way brain is designed.That is the default setting for the brain.An atheist brain or a brain capable of critical thinking is really an aberration and such brains had chance only after we began living in large communities,(our religious brains probably helped,Love you neighbors,do not kill etc)protected from dangers of inquisitiveness.

You cannot be a convinced atheist and at the same time justify the arguments of theists. That makes you unreliable. Naturally you may show understanding for their standpoints. But that is something different.
You can see every sort of pro and contra literature in the realm of god and religion. You may read them to broaden your grasping power. That is up to you. But no literature will give you the ultimate answer, not even the religious books like Bible, Quran, Gita or something else. Your ultimate answer is always yours only and you must find it out yourself.
My writing was to show from which cultural and religious background such books like 'apocrypha' or other religious books are originating. And that must help one to understand the real 'holiness' of the 'holy books', which in turn is nothing but a selection from such writings. In the New Testament for example, the church dignitary Irenaeus decided which books are canonical (to be included in NT)and which are heretical (to be excluded).
It is a fact that not only a human child, but the humanity as a whole has its own life and growth. Human life on earth has covered a very small fraction of time compared with the life of our universe and we are still on growing. The scientific knowledge which we have attained today is only a few hundred years old and most of the people are absolutely incapable of understanding the significance of modern science and inventions. If you have seen the world, you must have come to know that there are societies showing immense deficiency even in general knowledge.
You are right when you say "Human child is helpless for many years after it is born unlike other animals." But what are we doing? Are we allowing him to live his whole life as a child? No, we don't do that. If we do not do that, why should we allow the people of a society to live for ever in their intellectual childhood? Are not Indians the victims of wrong upbringing in the past and even now?
Now I am repeating the same words which I told already in many of my posts before: I don't know whether there is something called 'god' as a super instance of the 'universes'. And I am not much bothered about it too! But every observation which an educated, scientific human being makes, indicates clearly the non-existence of such a controlling power, as described in the religious books. It is also a simple fact that what we know is only a fraction of that what we call 'cosmos'. It may be difficult for a person without scientific background to accept it. And if anybody feels that he is mighty enough to understand and define the so called supreme power 'god' who controls such an unknowable and unpredictable cosmos, he may do so. But every thinking human being must ask himself: has he got the right to teach and mislead other people using his religious book, which somebody received from such a 'god' one or two or more thousands of years before and which he believes to contain the unquestionable and ultimate truth of the universe? And you may read in my post no. 60 (in the case of Quran for example ) how easy it is to expose the contradictions in a religious book.

Who says that they are arrogant fools? If they feel like that the reason can only be some kind of their own complex.
If you look around, you may see who the real arrogant people are. I don't like to call them fools. If you open your eyes you can see who are intolerant and who are treating different thinking people like animals and who are killing their fellow beings publicly because they follow another belief. Don't you see writers and cartoonists fearing for their lives just because they tried to write and express what they think?
Who is arrogant? Theist or atheist? Who is intolerant? Believer or non-believer? And who tries to educate the people? The free-thinking ones or the eternal-yesterdays with their ready-made answers?

I have been an atheist at least from the age of ten. I am a born atheist. So I guess that makes me a very reliable atheist;-)
I try to think with out any value judgments as far as possible. That is the ultimate in objectivity,you can have. What I was trying to say was 'normal' human brain is biased towards having strange beliefs and then rationalizing it. Man is not a rational animal, just a rationalizing animal. If you think the brain is an organ of thought" or "The brain is an instrument of knowledge" or "The brain is the way we understand the world,. ."NO". .The brain is an organ of survival just like claws or fur or fangs of other animals. Our brain and nervous system have evolved over millions of years. It is important to recognize that natural selection does not select directly on the basis of reason or truth; it selects for reproductive success. In short, our brain is not a truth finding organ.
Our brains and nervous systems constitute what they call a' Belief Engine', an engine that produces beliefs without any particular respect for what is real or true and what is not. Nothing is fundamentally different about what we might think of as "irrational" beliefs — they are generated in the same manner as are other beliefs. We may not have an evidential basis for belief in irrational concepts, but neither do we have such a basis for most of our beliefs. We can sometimes see the error or foolishness in other people's beliefs. It is very difficult to see the same in our own. I know atheists who are
staunch believers of complimentary medicine. Why can’t they use the same critical thinking tools they used to disprove god here? Those who ridicule papal infallibility, have no trouble in believing the infallibility of Chairman Mao or Stalin. As I mentioned in my blog profile everybody is an atheist. Those of us who call ourselves atheists just go one god further.
The really interesting questions according to me are:
-Why every single culture out there has religions and gods?
-Why most of the religious concepts around the world are minimally counter intuitive, ie, gods are exempt from some laws of nature, but not others.
-Why abstract notions of gods that are often entertained by theologians and philosophers don't have many believers? As you mentioned there are few takers for original Buddhist teachings.
-Why do apparently normal people join cults or belief systems voluntarily, and act in ways that jeopardize their own well being?(Branch Davidian of David koresh, Jim Jones’s peoples temple , heavens gate of Marshall Applewhite ,or even Scientology.)
-How do you explain 'True believers'? those fanatics who often flip from one movement to another with extreme conviction. Doesn't the fact that some of the naxelites of the seventies are now believers of some god men, deserve an explanation?
One observation I have on beliefs (ideologies or ‘isms’ or whatever) is that all have these basic ideas. People originally living in a state of innocence, a fall from grace (present time) and a judgment day where the righteous is to be rewarded. In other words all ideologies are based on self hate. All ‘isms’ teaches you to hate yourself.
.For Abrahamic religions, we have a garden of Eden, our sinner status of the present times, our current duty being to work to get a reentry to the good books of god. For communism, we imagine a bliss full state of primitive communism, now suffering under capitalism, and from where we have to reach the dictatorship of the proletariat. For feminism there was the bliss full state of male female equality, now suffering from patriarchy from where we have to return to original state. For environmentalism we have the concept of ‘noble savage’ present state of energy sinners, or wasters of resources, the ultimate bliss state to aim for is ‘sustainability’. It seems these are just hard wired in the brain.

you are touching a huge variety of subjects like atheism, theism, neuroscience, cults, communism, capitalism, feminism etc in your one comment. And I am not going to discuss all those subjects here because they are themes over which one can write books. I hope you may understand it.
I made it already clear in my last comment why I am writing apocrypha stories. For the time being I want to remain in the frame of my post. Moreover, if you want you may read my standpoints about many of the themes you mentioned in my various other posts in my blogs.
Nevertheless, I want to write a few words as reply just to tell you what I think, but not for a further discussion. Let me also tell you that I respect your belief and ideas.
1. Everybody is by birth only a rough human being and not an atheist or a theist, not a communist or a capitalist, not a feminist or ….
2. No human being is in a position to be absolute objective in his thoughts and decisions because he is only a product of innumerable influences of his environment. Man 'is' not what man is, man becomes what man is!
3. Every human brain is biased or sceptical not only towards strange beliefs, but towards everything that is new. One can reduce the grade of scepticism if he tries to learn and understand the opposites of his own views. But this is almost impossible for a person who believes that he is in possession of the ultimate truth. This is true for every human brain and not a special case for 'the normal brain'.
4. Our brain is the only instrument which we possess to process our perceptions from sense organs and so to make our survival in this world as easy as possible. So, it is our 'knowledge' organ. One needs other means and measures to survive in an industrialized world than in a primeval world. Through generations of trial and error, through adequate education and training attains our brain a level of refinement to enable us to do our duties in a modern world and to adapt ourselves for its culture and civilization.
5. You say: "Our brain is not a truth finding organ."
What is truth? Truth is that which supports our survival and therefore truth can only be something subjective. Even objective 'truths' become subjective through perception. Our brain learns automatically from environmental experiences what for us the most helpful way is to survive. There is no absolute, ultimate truth in the sense of religion. If we believe in god we do that just because we think that is good and necessary for our existence in this world. (and even in heaven after death!)

We need some kind of 'order' in a world of complete disorder. We need instinctively explanations for the natural phenomena which we observe. In ancient times where science was unknown, god was a good solution. In view of the natural catastrophe and other extraordinary occurrences 'above and below', worshipping god to please him can be understood as the most normal and suitable reaction. And as in all such cases, a few people knew perfectly to exploit this situation. Every cunning leader (political, religious, sect, cult etc.) will find his followers easily. And that happened in the primeval times and we see that it happens today also. Herd instinct is inherent in human beings. Today, there is satisfactory explanation for almost all observable natural phenomena. But god is still there because the explanations for everything 'in terms of god' is easily digestible even for rough brains.
7. "All ‘isms’ teaches you to hate yourself."
For me it is a baseless argument. What all 'isms' actually need is 'bogyman'. God needs Satan, Hitler needs Jews, communist needs capitalist and vice versa and so on. And that is the instrument which all 'hate-preachers' use to manipulate their followers to prepare them for violence against their ideological opponents.

The very aim of my post was to show that there is no book from a 'god'. Even in novels we can find some good and useful sentences. We can also find books without any contradictions written by 'normal' human beings, whereas in the religious books 'derived directly from god' it is generally easy for us to find sentences with contradictions because of their abundance!
9. The marxian theory is in my point of view obsolete, because we cannot reduce the modern social life as just a fight between capital and proletariat on the basis of economics. Human life today is infinitely complex and economics is only one (naturally important) factor of it. Every ideology (political, religious or social) which demands unconditional submissiveness and which tolerates not even genuine criticism is to be rejected.
